Self-Practice

Our mind-body is an open system that internalizes impressions from its environment and maps these three-dimensionally to different parts of our body. We internalize not only emotional responses of sadness, fear, rejection, helplessness, etcetera but also keep a division between what we experience consciously and subconsciously. The so-called blind spots. The patterns of emotional responses keep our traumas in check. These pathogenic* responses can manifest physically as tension, pressure, burning, feverishness, etcetera and emerge from behind blind spots in reaction to triggering of deeper lying traumas. We then feel as if the environment is responsible for the discomfort and pain that we feel. Thus our traumas are constantly actualized and patterns repeated. These patterns directly influence the way we think, feel, behave, communicate, ... and determine our quality of life experience. Thus our interaction with the world around us is constantly disrupted by mentioned traumas and patterns of responses that influence our behavior and communication therefrom. Hence we experience our ‘self’ in conflict with the world.
By touching 108 points for inner tuning a three dimensional or holographic mind-body map appears before our mind's eye. This practice is called InnerTouch 108. The Mindful** awareness that this practice raises about traumas, patterns and pathogenic responses enables one to reprocess and de-pattern mentioned impressions. This restores the intra-personal communication and the mind-body’s capacity to continuously seek a dynamic balance. This practice that supports our Mindful awareness of the whole of experience is called ACM InnerAware.
The reprocessing of stored-up impressions can at times greatly reduce a person's innate energy. This reflects in the capacity and functioning of the nerve-, digestive- and auto immune systems and thus also in our capacity to self-organize. We therefore advise learners to practice InnerTouch 108 but also take up the practice of Yoga and/or Qigong, which is an ancient contemplative practice from China that regulates, channelizes and strengthens a person's innate energy. Furthermore emphasis is given to a healthful lifestyle and the intake of wholesome food.
The combined practice of ACM InnerAware stimulates a person's affective and Mindful awareness, and enhances dynamic balance, strength, sensitivity, sense of wellbeing and intra- and interpersonal communication. Even
though we only discuss a limited number of practices in this chapter
there are virtually hundreds of practices that can support the learner
in this Self-Practice.
* Pathogenic = causes illness. ** Mindful = being aware of thoughts, feelings, and emotions without reacting to them in an automatic or judgmental way from conditioned responses.
